Physical Appearance
Height: 6’0
Weight: 190lbs
Hair: Dark Brown. [/center]
Body:
Hugh has a very toned physique, which he credits to the years he spent years as a midshipmen on the HMS St George. He stands nearly 6’0” and is 190 pounds of pure muscle, though the muscles do not stand out as much as they might on other men, and one might think he was rather lanky. He has dark blond shaggy hair that is usually kept in disarray, giving him the look of a man who hasn’t brushed his hair in days or has just rolled out of bed from a night of drinking and debauchery. He has a gentle face that gives no hint of the stubborn side of his nature and has full lush lips that when curved into a smile make women’s hearts flutter. His bright blue eyes are framed by dark sweeping lashes and darken according to his mood, especially when he’s deep in thought which, despite his odd, comical personality can be quite often.
Hugh doesn’t really care what he wears. He’s not one to follow any kind of clothing style. He generally wears a nice pair of dress slacks, with a form fitting plain colored t-shirt, and a pair of chuck taylors and when he's not in that, he can be seen in basic, jeans again setting off the jeans with a plain t-shirt and converses.
Basic Personality:
There’s always layers to a persons personality and Hugh has more then he knows what to do with.
Skeptical:
Hugh is a very skeptical person, though at first glance not many would guess that he would be. His skepticism stems from a number of things he’s seen through out his life, but the major one being that he’s found holes in more then a number of theories by men who were supposed to be geniuses, which in turn has made it so he does not believe in absolutes. He believes that anything or anyone can make mistakes or has exceptions, himself included. Because of his skepticism Hugh will not declare something absolute unless he himself witnesses it with his own two eyes, and even then he has his doubts; due to the multitude of view points he takes into account on the situation. His skeptical nature is another reason why he loves exploring different things in life, the special things that stick out from the rest; for example being a hybrid.
Logical:
While some would say that Hugh is odd, crazy, off his rocker, because of his outburst and the way he acts in public, its the farthest thing from the truth. What most people who don’t take the time to get to know him, fell to realize is that he is a very logical man when it comes to things involving life and its little things. Everything Hugh does is more then often based on logic (the other things off of emotions), though the logic to most doesn’t seem logical at all. Logic is so much a part of Hugh’s life that he often at times becomes flustered when he cant look at something form a logical point of view, which only in turn makes him want to dig deep with in the problem so he can find a logical reasoning behind it.
Observant:
While it may look like Hugh is off in his own world, trying to discover how the world works, and why it does what it does, he is very observant. Most do not notice that the other part of Hugh’s minds is silently watching the actions, argument, or conversations of those around him, paying attention to the little pieces of information in order to solve their problems. Some would call what he does being noise, but to Hugh it is simply that he finds the interest of others people and how they live their daily lives fascinating. His skills in the art of being observant (catching facial expressions and reading a person from their eyes, their voice, or there current disposition) has on more then once bailed him out of more then a few nasty situations.
Stubborn:
Hugh has a very stubborn side one (which has been coined on several occasions as having a one track mind when it comes to certain things) that has a tendency to cause a lot of strife in his life. When he sets his mind to a task or there is an impossible problem to solve no amount of convincing from others will dissuaded him from his goal. Needless to say some find his stubborn nature when it comes to solving a problem to be a bit overwhelming if not a bit on the annoying side, which apologizes before hand if (he feels his stubborn nature coming out) he becomes too much of a pain. Another side affect to his stubborn nature Hugh finds rules and restrictions almost impossible to follow or stick to, believing that some rules are made to be bent or broken.
Protective:
Though it takes a great deal for Hugh to form relationship with other people outside his family; his exuberant personality and the fact that most think he’s crazy the cause of his problems, when he does form a relationship with a person be it friend or lover, he is very protective of that person with a fierceness that can catch people off guard. While at times Hugh can go to extreme measures to see that the person in question is safe and kept safe, it is done with good intentions and because he does not often make friends with other people. Even though Hugh does worry over the people he cares for, he does gift those select few with a level of trust that they can defend themselves in any kind of situation
Calm:
Always Mr. Logical, Hugh hardly ever looses his cool, so it takes quite a lot to anger the level headed down to earth guy. For the most part Hugh sits back, watches the drama unfold around him, and only steps in when he feels it is prudent to do so, or feels there no other choice to the matter.. It is simply near impossible to wind him up passed the level of simple annoyance or irritation; he simply keeps calm, and moves onto another interesting thought in his head….embracing the joys that life has to offer.
Kind:
Another one of Hugh’s award winning traits of his personality is his kindness; though if you ever see it, remember there is always a reason behind it. It is something he has always shown (even at an early age) towards everyone and anyone that happens to be around him . No matter their species Hugh treats everyone with kindness even if the kindness is not returned he still makes it a point to be cordial. The reason behind the fact that he is never cross with someone has a lot to do with the fact that because he is neither vampire nor human so he was often treated as if he had the black plague; simply he could not help the way he was brought into this world.
Snobbish:
Its all in the title love.

History
Hugh Alexander Preston was born in the bustling city of Madrid, Spain, on a cool October day in 1685, to Cristofer and Moira Preston His father a wealthy merchant and his mother a respectable woman in society, were ecstatic, when Hugh was born-for both of them had thought impossible for them to conceive a child. For the first years of his life Hugh didn't say much of anything, content with observing, so he most of the time let others do most of his talking for him. Despite being spoiled by his parents, he was still down to earth towards people no matter what status they possessed.
While Hugh was raised in a wealthy upper class neighborhood, and he never really knew what it was like to not get everything he wanted, Hugh's life wasn't picture perfect as everyone thought it was, there were secrets that no one knew about his family. For one his parents were not your normal parents, as far as normal was concerned. His father was a vampire and had been one since about the 1400’s and his mother as well, though she had at one point been human. His father had met his mother one night when he’d been attending one of his many soirées, and had fallen in love with her on the spot.
They were married with in a few months (of course after he told her what he was) and a month later much to their surprise Hugh was born, a creature of both worlds, neither human nor vampire.....The second reason Hughs life was not a bed of roses was due to the fact that Hugh’s parents were hardly ever home; his mother either always out for one of her social engagements or out feeding and his father was either at one of his clubs, working, or hunting with his mother. So for much of the time Hugh was often left alone, with what ever nanny his parents had employed at the time. So in order to fill the loneliness, Hugh began to play the piano at the age of five (an age in which, much to his parent’s horror, Hugh looked as if he was 13 as apposed to a five year old little boy) and quickly became a skilled musician. So much by the age of ‘eleven’ he was playing for audiences in cities such as London and Paris, but his interest in the piano and the comfort it gave him soon lost its charm. It was then that moved on to books, reading everything and anything he could get his hands on…specifically anything to do with science or art. Which gave him an edge when he eventually started attending school.
Hugh grew up to be a very bright and a clever young man, he was educated in a good quality institution, with the right manners as well as moral code. Which would serve him well later on in life.
On his 17th birthday Hugh told his father that he wanted to join the queens navy…which didn’t go over well. His father had lost both of his brothers in a battle during the second Italian war (after they were burned in a building along with several other 100 soldiers), and his father did not want that happening to his only son. Not to mention his father also had always hoped that his son would follow the path of his grandfather and go into medicine. But Hugh wanted otherwise, he'd always wanted to explore the globe and discover new places he'd read about, to discover life's biggest secrets and to unravel its mysteries. His father’s wishes for his sons, and Hugh's own dreams escalated into a rather nasty fight between the two. Which finally ended with Hugh's father disowning him and Hugh leaving home for good.
Hugh soon found himself in London (after spending most of what he had in his possession to get there) , looking for work, and finding that it wasn’t an easy task. Jobless and miserable, he wondered the streets of London hoping for some kind of miracle….which eventually came….It was purely by chance that while he was out one afternoon looking for a job that he was in the right place to stop a man from mugging Admiral George Churchill ( first of the council to the lord high admiral). Churchill was amazed at the young mans bravery in the face of danger, and to reward his young hero, Churchill eventually appointed him to the Royal Anne at Portsmouth, and got him a commission as a midshipmen of the HMS St George under George Rooke…and Hugh+ couldn’t have been happier.
Before shipping out, Hugh wrote to his mother and father telling him that he was fine and healthy, and that he had earned a commission in the navy and he would keep in touch as much as possible. .
.
A new beginning
Hugh's life as a midshipman passed in a world wind of; battles, women, blood, and loss....but they were years he wouldnt' have traded for the world.
It was under the command of George Rooke, that Hugh was there at the capture of Gibraltar, where he was eventually transferred to shore as aide-de-camp to the Prince of Hesse-Darmstadt. It was also under the command of Rooke that Hugh fought at the sea-fight off Malaga which followed. After his valor in battle (during a particular nasty skirmish between the enemy, one in which Hugh rushed in by himself with nothing but a pistol ) Hugh became the second lieutenant of the Triton frigate, one of the most active cruisers in the navy, which captured twenty-three French privateers in the Channel alone in fifteen months, something that never failed to get his blood rushing when ever they captured another ship.
Time passed for Hugh almost in a blur, and before he knew it he was being promoted to first lieutenant, something he never expected to make....though why he did he wasn't certain. After several battles at sea, his ship along with several others, was given the task of helping with the siege of Ostend in 1706, where he served on shore. It was during this bloody battle that Hugh's life would soon change drastically.
Hugh was going over a ridge before his men, as he always did, when a barrage of cannon fire blasted the spot him and his men were in. chaos ensued as his men tried to get out of range of the cannon fire, resulting in a lot of his men dying. As Hugh tried to regroup his men, with a wounded man tossed over his shoulder, a cannon ball landed several inches near him sending him and the man flying from the impact. Hugh lay there in more of pain he'd ever been in, shrapnel lodged in several parts of his body. The last thing Hugh remembers seeing before he passed out was a beautiful women standing over him
Hugh woke a few days later feeling as if...well he'd had a cannon explode a few inches away from him. He glanced around, his eyes searching for the woman (the vampire) who had drug him off the battle field. The dark haired beauty was sitting off to the side of him, reading one of his favorite works by Galileo (La Billancetta) which immediately intrigued him (he'd never met a woman who enjoyed reading Galileo) and pushed out any fear he might have had over the fact that he could very well be dinner. Before he realized it they were talking about everything from politics to different scientists theories, him telling her the holes in some of the great scientists theories, and her scoffing that he hadn't....which he eventually showed her he had.
Hugh spent the next century with Alexandra, exploring the world, enjoying life, and discovering new theories of his own.
Hugh soon found himself in in America (after leaving Alexandra when she found a mate), were he spent the next centuries between studying at home, during the day and hunting at night. He poured over his books, learning may different fields, and several different languages, and advancing his talents at the piano. He watched the humans evolve, enthralled with the evolutiong of the world and humans.
One thing Hugh was not envious of was the wars that broke out around him, each time one came to close to his home, and he risked being drafted, Hugh would pack his things and he would move to a neutral country. He'd seen enough in his stint in the navy and had no desire to see the carnage of war again. As transportation methods improved, Hugh became an avid world-traveler. His avid passion took him to many places Russia, Italy, Nepal, Sweden, China, and Japan, keeping in contact with his family as much as he could.
After many years of the endless traveling, theories, and different jobs he returned to Madrid, (much to his mothers joy) and waited until something else caught his eye.
Rp Example
The tall, energetic, man-who's boyish face and the manner of his attire could have easily led people to mistake him for one of the may students that littered the halls-walked down the halls, a slight bounce to his step and a quirky grin on his lips as he made his way towards the little classroom. The classroom that was probably no more then 300 square feet, would be his for the remainder of the year and hopefully many more years after that.....and with any success would be the room in which he would be teaching the fresh young minds of forks high school how to act. Hopefully.
He turned down another long corridor, the bounce still present in his step and the grin spreading further across his lips as he continued to navigate the hallways. He was excited, more then apparent in his mannerism, which was why for the most part, Luc ignored the odd little looks from the teaches as well as students he caught out of the corner of his eye every now and then. While he was curious about the new colleagues he'd be working with and the students he might be teaching, he however wasn't curious-an unnatural occurrence for him-about what was most likely going through their minds.
He heaved a small mental sigh.
Luc was all to aware what they were thinking, it didn't take a degree in rocket science to figure out that they either thought him and odd ball or insane, but as there was little he could do about the opinions of others or stop the actions in which they were staring at him for; he simply flashed them one of his boyish grins and turned down another hallway the class room finally coming into view.
D-day
Shifting the leather satchel to his other shoulder, he took a deep breath, and stopped in front of the door that matched numbers on the slip of paper he'd been given by a most helpful woman (who'd asked him several times if he was really the new physics and drama teacher) in the front office. While the first day of teaching at a new school was always exciting for him, for it was a day of firsts and discoveries, when the small duckling tested the water of the bigger pond (even though it had been a number of years since he'd actually been a student himself and only had a vague idea of what it was like) even he couldn't help be a little nervous.
He took one more deep breath before pushing the door open to the class room and striding in, the grin (despite the twinge of nervousness) still plastered on his lips.
"Good morning class" He dropped his things on the desk and turned to the chalk board, writing in big swooping letters the name they would be calling him for the year, bouncing slightly. "I'll have none of that Mr St. James, too stuffy for a Drama teacher. Now then!" He turned back towards the young faces and folded his hands behind his back, rocking back on the heels of his chuck taylor converses, grinning. "Your first assignment....now now...no groaning...its quite simple." He paused to pick up the text book. " I want you to take this thing and toss it to the back of the room, for this is theater and the art of acting does not come form a text book, but from the soul." He chuckled at some of the wide eyed looks his students were giving him as he tossed the book to the back of the room, half wondering if any of them would actually toss the books to the back of the room.
