History:
In the summer of 1276, Hector Baron Kern Jr. welcomed his first son into the world. Hector was named after both his father and grandfather. When Hector was five his younger brother Charles was born, the in another year Thomas. He loved having brothers and they would always play war in the back yard, yelling and pretending to be soldiers. When Hector was ten his sister Elizabeth was born and everything changed. Their mother died giving birth to Beth and Hector was forced to help more around the house being the oldest. His studies were easy enough too complete for him, loving to read anything the tutor gave him.
Hector joined the English army when he was twenty years old and went into the war that was started that very year by Scotland. The war was a hard one and then three years after the start his life changed yet again. One day he was charging the filed when a Scott took a sling and spun it, firing the caltrops toward the approaching men. Hector fell, feeling the caltrops embedded in his shoulders and then the pain grew more feeling one in his left eye and another next to his right eye between the tear duct and the bridge of his nose. He was brought back to the medical tent and after he was healed there the best he could be, he was sent home.
For the next few months his vision got worse until he ended up being blind. His eyes were damaged farther then what medicine could heal. Being home all the time with his father and new step mother, Hector became bored very easily. That was when is step mother bought him an instrument to play. She called it a dulcimer. He tried it out a few times and wanted to give up playing it, but the challenge made him happy. Because he could use his fingers to play, he didn’t need to worry about seeing anything.
Ten years of being blind he started to adapt really well to life. One day he was making his own way to the park when he ran into a woman. She apologized for being there but he kept telling her it was his fault, not being able to see her. He walked past her with a formal fair well and headed into the park. He sat on the bench when a familiar voice spoke near his left ear; it was the woman he ran into. She told him she could cure him and as he was about to ask her what she meant, a piercing pain touched his left wrist. Pulling as hard as he could he felt a fire unlike anything from the war climb his arm. He wondered what was happening and ended up passing out from it.
Three days of war and hellfire later he sat up and looked at the woman… seeing her. She was beyond gorgeous. Her long hair, the curve of her hips… everything about her screamed beautiful, then the eyes hit him, they were red. Hector was not scared, but as she explained what he now was he wanted to know it all but the thirst got to him and they went on their first hunt. He killed the humans she set in front of him quickly, enjoying the taste and he killed close to ten before he was done. They stayed together for the next two centuries, and Hector asked her everything she knew about vampires.
Hector learned about the possibility of having a gift from another wandering vampire. So he set out to find out if he had. It wasn’t until he was hunting when another nomad attacked him that he found his gift. Hector tried to fight him but he was very quickly. All Hector could think about was the man being blind to slow him down and slowly this black haze covered the man until he could not longer see through it. Hector smiled; glad to know he had a gift and could see through it. He dispatched the nomad and moved on to learn control over his gift.
After three hundred years of being alone he finally had his chance at having someone with his at all times. But this was not what he thought of when he dreamed for companionship. Walking past the alley he could smell the blood and headed in, thinking of a free meal. That was when he saw, the child bleeding and beaten to near death on the alley floor. Grabbing his handkerchief from his coat breast pocket he covered his mouth and nose with it, not wanting to be tempted to kill this child. He kneeled next to her and rolled her enough to see her face and he froze. She looked identical to his younger sister from the last time he saw her alive.
Hector made the decision quickly and lifted the girl as gently as he could, running her back to his house. Laying her on an up stairs bed he tried anything he could think of to help her but nothing helped and she was getting worse… Hector knew what he had to do but he wasn’t sure if he could do it. His thirst was very strong and he lost his control when he tasted blood. That was when an idea hit him. Lifting her right arm he held it above her heart level for a long time, waiting until it was no longer warm to him. Taking a deep controlled breath he bit into her wrist, happy when he didn’t taste blood and left his teeth there to make sure his venom was present. Removing his teeth he licked the wound to insure no to little scar and set her arm over the side of the bed, rubbing it to get the blood following again. He knew it worked when she started screaming.
Leaving her there he went out to find her food, knowing when she woke up she would need it. Passing a pet store he glanced inside and nodded, thinking it was the best thing he could do. He purchased the three largest dogs and food for them and took them back to his house. When she woke three days later he explained what she was and told her his name. He let her feed and from that point on he took care of her until he realized she was a daughter to him. This made Hector very happy.

Hunting, one of his least favorite things to do but he always loved the outcome from it. Blood was the only thing he ever wanted, and he tried many different ways to feed. From animals, from blood bags more recently, even draining a human after he killed it but nothing was the same of thrilled him more then biting into the flesh and drinking the sweet blood that it brought forth. So on he walked, heading for the slums. If he was going to feed from a human tonight, it would be from someone there.
As he entered the streets of this city slums his shoes tapped on the ground, the sound bouncing off the walls he passed. His suit was well in order, coat, shirt and vest with matching tie. But what set him off from anyone else who might be walking down this street was the way he moved. He was sure of every movements, he knew what he was and where he was going. This made powerful, made him take pride in what he was doing. As he searched for his choice of food he found the first rather quickly, slumped in the gutter of one street. Using his shoe he pushed it slightly and it didn’t do anything but groan at the movement. Perfect.
Lifting the human into his arms he jumped onto the roof of the building closest to them. Setting him there he bit into the male human’s neck and groaned at the taste of the blood. Draining it quickly he let the body drop and went walking in search of the next one to help feed his undying hunger. The next one he nearly tripped over when he jumped down into the alley. Looking at it he grinned at it being another male. He will stick to his own code, no women and no children. He drained it as quickly as the first and jumped back up to the roof and left it with the other body to be disposed of.
As he wandered around the streets of the slums he grabbed two more humans and fed from them, leaving them with the first two. Now Hector was calm and sated. His lust for blood made him kill more then a normal vampire at a given time but he only fed once a week. He gathered and bodies up and carried them over to a building marked to be brought down the next day. As the sun began to rise he noticed the humans starting to move in the building, setting up the bombs. He waited until they made their last sweep of the top floor before jumping over and leaving the bodies next to one of the bombs. He left the building and jumped from one roof to the next quickly and headed back to his home and to his daughter, the sound of the exploding building ringing out into the morning behind him.
