Background/Character History:
Evan was born in September 10 1979 to parents Angel and Brandon Maka.
Evan didn't really know his father. His mother refused to answer the subject when he was younger. When she did tell him, he found out that he died after being hit by a drunk driver. It was purely accidental, but his mother never truely believed that.
Evan wasn't fatherless for very long. Angel and Charles weren't together for very long when he and his mother married. The family was complete when Lucas was born.
Evan was not always found of the fact he was a big brother. He was so used to being the only child, that he used to get annoyed with Lucas following him. He enjoyed the company after awhile.
Evan and Lucas were each other's shadows. They would surf together regualrly. He was never into the competition side of things, but would never miss seeing his brother compete. Evan supported his brother's love for animals, driving him to and from refuges until he got his own licence. He would listen happily while Lucas told him everything he knew on animals and animal care.
Evan formed the band orginally to just have fun. He had no desire to go to college, being content with fixing bikes at a local garage. But Lucas wanted to go. Evan arranged gigs at clubs through 'friends of friends'. Word sprend, and they started earning decent money. Evan started saving for his big surprise.
Evan started working at the gym as a favour to a friend. He stayed there longer than the two weeks he was supposed to. He enjoyed the social environment and helping people. He reccommended Lucas for a job and soon they were working side by side.
Evan took Lucas to Las Vegas as 21st birthday present. After only being there a short time, they got an apartment and looked for jobs. The fast paced life style suited Evan and he was soon quite popular. Evan felt bad leaving Lucas alone, at first. After a while it became second nature.
Working all day and night left Evan exhausted, although he tried to deny it. Lucas and Evan called it quits after 3 years and returned home.
Evan fell back into his old life with realitive ease. His brother was an awesome roommate, and their old workplace welcomed them back with open arms. Yet part of him missed the fast living of Las Vegas. While out clubbing with friends one night he met Justine.
He knew Justine wasn't 'normal' from the first time he met her. Her skin was way too pale and she had the tenacity to wear red contact lens all the time. But she was funny (even though her humor was very dark.), brutally honest and very pretty.
Over a few months, he noticed her leaving for days on end, and then returning with no explantion.
He woke one night to find Justine covered in blood. She evantually told him that she was a vampire. They fought and she left, returning three weeks latter.
A friend of Evan's told him that he saw Justine regularly hanging out at a local bar, leaving with different men and sometimes women every night. Evan didn't believe him, but his friend insisted. Evan followed her one night and saw her leaving with a man. He continued to follow her and saw her feeding off the man. Justine noticed him and pleaded with him not to leave her. She was sick, she said. She had some disease that made her feed off humans. Evan hardly ever left her side after that. He sometimes took her to places where she could feed on humans that no one really missed. He stopped going into work, the late night trips left him exhausted.
One night Justine refused to go out and feed but wouldn't give a reason. Evan offered his own blood. Justine told him that he couldn't turn into a vampire if she took a tiny bit of his blood. She went too far.
Evan opened his eyes and looked around in confusion. He was in the middle of a desert. What the heck? Was this the result of a very big night out? Last thing he remembered, he was at home. He's girlfriend was there, wearing that tight little purple number (the one that meant something nasty was going to go down.). He tried to piece last night together as he got up. And fell back down again.
He felt like he was on fire. There was no other way to put it. Every part burned. It was like all the pain he ever felt times a million. Possibly more. A large scream escaped his lips. Surely he didn't deserve this. He probably put his brother through hell for the last month, but he didn't deserve this.
The next scream lasted for several minutes. He withered in agony. He thought nothing but about how much pain he was in.
"Evan? Evan, I'm going to pick you up now."
He looked in the direction of the voice. She was there, still wearing the purple thing.
As she bent to pick him up, part of him yelled to hit her hard. She scooped him up easily. Evan looked at her face. He noticed that her eyes were a bright red and she..sparkled. He convulsed in her arms and she held tighter.
"Don't worry, I'll take care of you," she whispered. "And you'll never have to see Lucas again."
Role Play Example
Evan picked up his bag. He was really going to leave this time. Attempt number goodness knows what. Attempt number 50 maybe? Justine left two hours ago to hunt, so he didn't have to go through another guilt trip. Evan overheard her saying to some of her that there were some mountain climbers near by. It didn't take a genius to know who she was dinning on. It was like an open invitation to a buffet. Soon those climbers would be wishing they chose another hobby.
Justine had taken good care of him, he'd give her that. She just denied him the one thing he wanted most-his brother. Evan stopped saying his name months ago as he knew she'd just ignore him.
Evan put the note on her favourite recliner. It wasn't a love note, but it wasn't the meanest thing, either.
“Dear Justine.
I’m sorry for just leaving, but at the risk of sounding corny, we both knew this was going to happen.
I don’t mean to be ungrateful. You’ve done so much for me. You looked out for me and I am grateful. But to be honest, I’m a fricking wreak without Lucas. I know you’ve warned me that he may not want to see me..as if I’m going to listen. He’s my brother. Three years is a bloody long time for me not to see him. Even if he doesn’t listen to anything I say and tears my head off, at least I would’ve found him. This probably doesn’t make sense to you. In most part it doesn’t make sense to me.
Come looking for me if you want. Can’t tell you where I’ll be ‘cause I honestly don’t know. Just don’t expect me to come running back with you. Sorry love.
Evan.”
He toyed with the idea of leaving a ‘touch my brother and die’ in the letter but didn’t. Surely she would know this fact after three years. Fights erupted and items were broken over silly things like her calling Lucas a jerk.
Evan locked up the house, stashing his key under the door matt and started walking. He would get in a solid five, maybe six hours walking before he had to worry about being seen. Evan had no idea where his brother was, no idea on where to start. Evan quickly reminded himself about an important fact. Someone who was blessed with good genes as Lucas, was to bound to have been somewhere.
