Character Name: Amora Leala Grivas
Age, both physical and literal: 19 years
Species: Human
Physical Appearance:
Amora is of average height at 167cm (5.5ft) and a little below average weight of 56kgs (123.5lbs). She is slender, with well-developed curves. She has a pretty face, though, she would describe herself as “plain or average”. She has a-little-below-the-waist length browny-red hair that often appears to be light brown, blonde or gold in different light or in terms of her general health. She has brown-green eyes, brown in the very centre around the pupil, with green around the outside of the brown. Her eyes are very expressive, and most of her true emotions can be found there. Her mouth can be almost expressive as her eyes, though, Amora has more conscious thought about how the set of her face is, so as not to give away her true feelings. When she really does smile like she means it, she frequently is told how beautiful she looks, though she won’t believe it. She has perfect straight, white teeth to accompany her smile. She has long, thin fingers as well as thin wrists. Amora has long legs that are strong enough to let her run as fast as she can when need be. Her skin tone is quite light, not entirely pale, but close enough. She has her ears pierced four times in each side. Amora wears a sliver Claddagh ring with a tiny ruby in the centre of the heart on her right middle finger. She very rarely takes it off as it belonged to her mother.
Basic Personality: Shy and reserved, Amora rarely drops down her guard to let people get to know her. She has trust issues that are in deep within her and this makes it difficult for Amora to communicate her feelings to others.
Amora is a rational thinking. She has the ability to pull any event; any sentence any person into some kind of order in her head, giving her the ability to talk herself into or out of anything. This trait is usually a gift, however; it often hinders Amora's peace of mind, as it can create internal conflicts. She can be crazy and fun loving when she is around those she feels comfortable with. Despite keeping her feelings to herself, Amora is an honest person. She doesn't talk about people behind their backs, nor does she lie (Granted, there may be a situation where she would HAVE to lie, but she could only ever do so if there was a good enough reason). Amora is quite insecure. She doesn't value herself, doesn't see why anyone would really want to be friends with her. She is also terrified of falling in love. Amora loves to read and write and often sketch. She loves photography and finds peace when she is amongst nature. A major weakness of Amora's is that she can't let go of the people she loves and cares for, even if they are hurting her or are bad for her. No matter what they do to her, she cannot find it within herself to cause them any bit of harm in anyway. Amora is stubborn and independent, and dislikes it when she can't be self-sufficient. This part of her personality is more-often-then-not a hindrance, as she rarely asks for help when she needs it and it also impairs her ability to let herself recognise her need for others. On the flip-side, Amora very rarely feels like anyone needs her or cares about her, which causes her insecurities to rear themselves up. Amora is naturally a strong person, though she doesn't realise it. She doesn't bend to pressure, she has set morals that she doesn't back down from and she has the ability to pick herself up and keep going, even though she feelings like she is falling to pieces. Amora is good at analysing people. She is naturally observant and is regularly spot in with her understanding of someone and their motives. She also has a spot on intuition that has never been wrong before in her life. Her gut feeling about different events of people is always dead on. Amora is not an overly girly girl and isn't that fussy with what brand of clothes she wears. She is a perfectionist and stresses out, perhaps, more than necessary. She has a good temper and very rarely loses her cool, though, if she is upset or angry with someone, they will know about it. After the initial anger, she has a tendency to fold inward, meaning that she lashes out on herself, taking all the blame down on her shoulders. Amora has an inability to hate anything. She may extremely dislike something, but never to the point of hate. Amora does not get freaked out easily and it takes a great deal to scare her. She rarely will do something on impulse, but when she does, the consequences are usually good. She also, has the ability to do anything she sets her mind to. If she is determined, nothing can deter her from her goal. Amora is not religious and often feels lost when it comes to "having faith." She craves for someone to understand her and someone that she can be "free" with, but it isn't something that she would broadcast. Amora also, quite often, finds herself with new bruises on a daily basis, due to her accident-proneness. She has difficulties walking on a flat surface in flat shoes or bare feet without tripping and she also finds a way to injure herself from the safest activities.
Likes and Dislikes: Most of Amora's likes and dislikes are conflicting. She likes the night because it is peace and the darkness allows her to hide, though, she dislikes it because it can be suffocating and consuming and it's the only time that she feels safe enough to let herself fall apart. Silence is another conflicting interest. Amora likes it because she is able to think and relax, though, the silence becomes lonely and it speaks truths she doesn't wish to hear. Amora does adore nature and artwork as well as learning. She prefers cold to heat. She dislikes hurting people or animals and likes being able to help. Amora dislikes sleeping because some of her dreams are so vivid that they frighten her. She dislikes being left on her own because she has a fear of abandonment, though, she often prefers being alone. Amora doesn't like being sick, as that means she is unable to be fully independent. Amora likes the rain and is quite fond of walking in it. She likes fire and on the opposite, feels like she connects with water. Amora likes all things gothic and supernatural, often finding herself engrossed in a fantasy novel.
Extras: The vivid dreams that Amora has are often "prophetic", meaning that the things her subconscious plays during her sleep frequently happen during her waking state. Along with her dead-on intuition and her ability to analyse people and their behaviour, Amora is able to tell a person about themselves from their dreams. An odd quirk to Amora is that she still has he Australian accent, despite the fact that she was around Americans for most of her life. It is something that she was able to retain, as if she was clinging to home.
Background/Character History: 300 word minimum. Born in 1990, Amora is a horse by Chinese zodiac.
Amora was the first born of her family, until 1998, when her little sister, Ebeni, was born.
Sadly, Amora didn't have the best up bringing. Her parents were always fighting, shouting at each other, and little Amora could never understand why.
Her father was abusive. Mentally and physically, mostly towards her mother. Sometimes, Amora would bare the wounds of being too close to her father when he blew his cool.
In a poor attempt to fix their marriage, her parents decided to move to America. Mostly, though, it was due to Amora's father getting a job offer there.
Taking Amora and Ebeni with them, things got worse.
An eight-year old Amora would have to looking after her baby sister when their parents fought, protecting Ebeni from the brutality of their father's rage.
It wasn't long after the Grivas' had been living in the U.S that Amora's mother became a drug addict.
Amora struggled to understand why her mother was so neglectful. She had always picked her up from school, always made her lunches, read her bedtime stories to keep her from crying after her father had hit her mother again...
Once Amora's mother found drugs, nothing else mattered to her, not even her children.
Because of this drug hit, Amora's father became more abusive, more angry, and once, when Amora was ten and Ebeni was two, their father had lashed out on Ebeni.
Somehow, the authorities found out, and Amora and Ebeni were taken away and put into foster care.
Ten-year-old Amora was separated from her baby sister and was bounced from a few places, all of her belongings shoved into a garbage bag, so that any clothes she wore smelt exactly as the bag did.
Because of her up bringing, Amora was picked on a lot at school by the other kids, and, as she grew up, that's all she came to expect.
When she was thirteen, though, she began making friends. She had been in a stable home for almost a year and was able to start settling in.
Despite her troubled upbringing, Amora did really well in school, for every year she completed.
As she grew up, she found had trouble with her friends. She couldn't relate to them and she couldn't talk to them about her past. She felt very lonely.
Amora dated a few guys, but had issues with being close to the person she was with as well as the fact that most of the guys she dated treated her poorly. (Though she would never say as such.)
Her foster parents were really supportive and provided her with a good education at an expensive school.
She passed her final year of school, right before her current foster parents decided to move to Forks, Washington from Seattle.
Amora decided to move with them, as they were pretty much all she had left.
She hadn't seen her mother or father since she was a small child and as for her baby sister, the same thing applied, although, her mother had written to her once or twice.
Currently, Amora has been living in Forks for two weeks and has yet to meet any new faces.
Role Play Example: 400 word minimum. The worst part about moving was that you didn't know what to expect about the place you were moving to.
Sure, it sucked having to pack everything you owned into backs or garbage bags, for that matter, but it was nothing compared to diving head first into the unknown and having nowhere to go if you didn't like what you got.
That was life, though, and Amora Leala Grivas was well accustomed to it.
She didn't have the best childhood and even though the life she had now was so much better, it wasn't a happy life.
Amora felt devoid of a purpose, really. She had passed school and was considering university, but she wasn't content.
She was really unsure of what she was meant to do with her life. She was uncertain of a million and one things like: When should she move out? Should she get a job? Was it acceptable if she never got married?
So many questions that she couldn't answer.
"No, that's not right, it won't work that way..." Amora muttered to herself, cringing at her accent. Even though she had lived in America since she was eight, yet her accent still clung to her words and somehow, her spelling.
Sighing, Amora gave up on trying to carry multiple boxes to the removalist truck parked in the driveway.
Her foster parents, Kim and Diane, had organised for the movers to turn up during the day, whilst they were away working.
Ditching the box in the truck, Amora returned to her bedroom for one last look at its box-filled state.
It was incredible, even thought it didn’t feel like home, Amora would miss it hugely.
It had been her sanctuary for so many years now. Anytime she wanted to escape Kim and Di, she would retreat to here.
How many times had she sought refuge here after a bad day at school? How long had she spent in her favourite corner seeking shelter from her pain? Yes, this room had offered her solace all the times that she wished she could die.
A whirring sound interrupted her mourning. Pursing her lips, Amora pulled out her sleek, black flip top mobile phone.
She had only gotten it a week ago because her treasured phone stopped working.
Flicking it open with her thumb the screen popped up with an envelope in the middle, indicating that she had received a new message.
Amore’s eyes drifted to the writing across the annoying, moving “new text message!” icon.
New message
Dean Hunter
It read. Amora exhaled sharply, half tempted to just snap the phone shut and ignore it. Problem was, though, her phone was obnoxious. It would keep vibrating until she either read it or chose the ‘exit’ option.
Sighing, she gave in and opted for the ‘open’ option instead.

Sorry my phone went flat yesterday and I didnt charge it til late.
***End***
Glaring at the words as if they were offensive, Amore snapped it shut in one shift, fluid movement of her right index finger before stuffing it back into her pocket.
He only contacted her when it was convenient for him these days.
She remembered the time when he used to message her every ten minutes or so.
Jerk. She thought, bitterly. She was sick and tired of him treating her like she was a piece of garbage. She had been closer to him than she ever had been to anyone in all of her life. She had wanted to tell him about her childhood.
But since that day that he decided he wanted to go back to being ‘close friends’, Amora wasn’t so sure.
Yes, she trusted him, to an extent. Sadly, though she didn’t want to admit it to herself, it wasn’t the same way that she had trusted him before hand. She still had feelings for him, and he had said that he had the same feelings for her, he just couldn’t deal with a relationship. Amora didn’t entirely believe him, though. If he really did have the same feelings for her, wouldn’t he have been making an effort to stay in contact with her? There were times though, that his actions matched his words.
Picking up another heavy box, Amore suddenly felt dazed.
She was good at reading people. If Dean was in front of her, she could understand what was going on, get herself some answers. That was the flaw in her plan. Despite his big “I still want to see you… That is, if you still want to see me” speech, he very rarely saw her anymore. The times that he did, it was only for a short duration of time, or they went somewhere where he wasn’t obligated to talk to her with people that would free him of the same obligation.
Well, if he didn’t want her… that was fine. As much as it really hurt her, she knew it was unhealthy to keep herself hoping. And what would it matter? She wouldn’t be around after today. He could continue with his precious life and all the girls that wanted him that were some much better than Amora.
Heaving yet another box into the truck, Amora made a conscious effort to think about other, Dean-free things.
She pondered over Forks and what mysteries it held.
Apparently, it rain almost everyday.
Half smiling, Amora wondered what Christmas would be like wet as opposed to snowy.
After what seemed like days, Amora and the movers had finished filling the truck.
All that was left in the house were a few odds and ends that Kim and Diane would fill their cars with.
Sitting on the last box, Amora pulled out her phone, deciding to answer Dean.
It’s fine. Sorry, I’ve been busy all day. Haven’t had a chance to check my phone. How are things?
She keyed in, before sending it off. Snapping it shut, she began the waiting game. Her foster parents were due home anytime and then it was off to Forks.
Before her contemplation got much further, her phone, still in her hand, buzzed.
Curiously, Amora flipped it open. Dean had messaged her back. Warily, she opened the message, wondering what crap he’d try to feed her this time.

Oh yeah what have you been up to?
***End***
”Stupid question.” She muttered in response to what she read.
Packing boxes into a truck.
Amora sent back a moment later before closing her phone.
Checking her watch, she sighed anxiously.
Kim and Di needed to be home so that she could leave. Amora, despite not wanting to move, was eager to check out her new home.
Her phone buzzed once more. Following the same process, she opened it up.

06:05PM
When do you leave?
***End***
”Stupid question.” Amora repeated, exasperated. Dean had been told a million and one times. He should know the answer that she was about to text.
As soon as Ken and Di get here.
As if summoned, Di pulled up in the drive and honked the horn.
That was Amora’s cue to leave.
Twisting the lock on the deadbolt, she pulled the door shut behind her, her bag already in the car.
Sliding in hurriedly, Amora clipped on her seatbelt, avoiding her foster mum’s gaze.
It was off to Forks. Not looking back.
A new house. A new home. A new life.
And no more Dean.
There was one thing that kept Amora from being happy.
No Ebeni. Her baby sister.
With that last though, they pulled out of the driveway towards the rainy Forks.
---Sorry it's so long... I got really, really into it. Let me know if you want it smaller. So sorry. (Btw, all up, the application is close to 4,000 words... -.-') And I'm sorry if I don't make sense... I read over it a couple of times, but it is 3:32am and I'm frozen stiff!---
